Our busy life is full of a series of choices we have to make almost daily. When it comes to decision-making, we often tend to rely on our logical mind instead of our intuition. Some people think intuition is a “gut feeling” or “guessing”, others call it “the highest form of intelligence”.
According to Wikipedia, intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without proof, conscious reasoning, evidence, or without understanding how the knowledge was obtained. In other words, intuition is unconscious knowledge or cognition, an inner knowing or inner sensing.
Intuition can reveal itself in various ways. It may feel like a nagging feeling of worry when we are about to make a wrong decision or a feeling of happiness when we are on the right path.
Intuitive people often get information directly from their intuition and not through their rational thinking. People with good intuition are more autonomous and self-directed. They rarely depend on the opinion of others because their attention is usually directed inward. Intuitive individuals often use their latent resources, deeper nature, and creative impulses to solve their problems.
Good intuition means a good sense of knowing. With more practice, it helps to make better choices in life and manifest more things with the Law of Attraction. Intuition and manifestation help to improve professional and personal life such as work and career, meeting and dating people, building better relationships with friends, relatives and so on.
Intuition vs Logical Mind
It is not always easy to tell if it’s intuition or logical mind speaking. When we have to make a choice to which city to move, person to date or doctor to go to, we tend to rely on logical reasoning that can lead to desirable or undesirable results, depending on circumstances. We tend to fear that we’ll make the wrong decision, and as a result, often avoid making difficult decisions.
Here is what one researcher, the author of the book The Intelligence of the Unconscious, says about being both intuitive and rational:
In my scientific work, I have hunches. I can’t explain always why I think a certain path is the right way, but I need to trust it and go ahead. I also have the ability to check these hunches and find out what they are about. That’s the science part. Now, in private life, I rely on instinct. For instance, when I first met my wife, I didn’t do computations. Nor did she.
At some point, our intuition may be influenced by our knowledge and experience such as processed data from the reading, studying, researching and natural curiosity that later will fill our subconscious mind.
But for the most part, the intuitive guidance has nothing to do with experience, how smart the person is or how much books he read as our intuition is part of our psychic senses and natural instincts.
Intuition vs EgoOften, instead of using our intuitive abilities, we let ego lead and we don’t even consciously aware of the difference between it and our intuition. While ego sounds logical and rational, too often it is based on control and criticism. Intuition, on the other hand, is love-based and doesn’t have any advantages for our self-fulfillment.
Ego is often filled with fear and worry. While a certain amount of worry is normal, too much concern and overthinking sends mixed signals and interferes with the intuitive message reception. In this case, think about how much of your concern and doubt is natural and how much is the result of your internal criticism and ego.
The critical inner voice can come in a form of negative thoughts toward one’s self and others and it can alter one’s mood, psychological state and affect personal relationships, partner selection, choice of school or career, and work performance.
Too much criticism or worry is not natural or harmonious. It can contribute to self-criticism, self-doubt, distrust, and develop addictions and personal limitations. This type of thinking can hold you back from reaching your goals.
To overcome this critical thinking, some psychologists like Robert Firestone, use “voice therapy” that helps to identify and separate from this inner critic. In his book, you will find where this voice is originated from, what actions to take and how to follow your true point of view and the real voice of intuition instead.
How Do We Know When We’re Being Guided By Intuition?Perhaps one day you decided to learn a new skill or to travel to a new place. Everything feels right, but your rational mind starts to question whether you need to do it right now.
Most of the time, we tend to align with the fear-based ego guidance instead of intuition guidance. This is why it is more difficult to hear our intuition than ego. While the ego tends to be more logical and rational, intuition is a sound of wisdom but vaguer in appearance.
The shadow ego often appears in the form of a critical inner voice while the voice of intuition is all about harmony. The voice of intuition is the lost instincts that we need to connect to through our unconscious. Many people, myself included, can confirm that intuition was always right, even when its guidance feels like something extraordinary.
When you have to choose something, your intuition can guide you toward the thing that is right for you. Simply visualize your future self making a choice and then put it into test by answering “yes” or “no” questions. Then calm your mind and running thoughts, look inward and “feel” your answer.
When you are in tune with your intuition, you feel calm, positive and energetic. Intuition brings a feeling of openness and release. It may respond with a burst of creativity and inspiration. These are definite signs your intuition is calling you forward in that direction.
Then select a different answer and listen to ego and logical reasoning. Ego channels uneasy feelings of heaviness, doubt, and uncertainty. When you make a wrong decision for yourself, you will feel closed off, less energy, even an icky sinking sensation in your stomach. Anytime you experience that uncomfortable sinking sensation, it is a definite sign that intuition is telling you to let that idea go.
Sometimes ego and intuition overlap when you feel energized and inspired to do something, but then ego steps in and plant seeds of doubt into your mind. In this case, it is unclear whether it is intuition is guiding me away from unwanted things or ego is attempting to interfere by planting seeds of doubt and fear.
Using Intuition With Divine Guidance
When it comes to manifesting and changing your life with the Law of Attraction, many people have noticed that the sole focus on manifesting is limiting and exhausting and often brings something that is not for their highest good. But when they are connecting with their intuition, they get the inner knowledge of what is good for them. With more practice, they use less deductive or logical reasoning and have more awareness of the messages coming from their intuition.
By aligning with your intuition, you are coming more to God, as He knows our heart and soul completely, our requests are often fulfilled in surprising ways.
Some people prefer God to take charge and provide 100% guidance. They offer their problems to the Divine, let it guide them and do things through them. Instead of telling God how they (the ego) want things to happen, they let this Force of Love use them by acknowledging that the perfect solution is already picked and they will be shown the right way and time according to God’s will.
Offering wishes to God allows them to be fulfilled, delayed, or ignored. That is how you stop being a slave to obsessions. Things will often arrive in ways you never imagined because your detachment has allowed room for a Higher Plan to emerge. When things manifest the way they are supposed to be, it brings pure and simple happiness.
